Q) Is the Patalsu Peak Winter Training suitable for beginners?
A) Absolutely! This winter trek is designed for both beginners and seasoned trekkers. It provides a perfect blend of adventure and education, making it an ideal starting point for those new to mountain climbing in winter conditions.
Q) What kind of training can I expect during the winter trek?
A) The winter trek includes comprehensive training sessions conducted by experienced instructors. You’ll learn essential skills such as different snow climbing techniques, use of mountaineering equipment, cold-weather survival, self-arrest techniques, roping up for group safety, and much more.
Q) How difficult is this trek?
A) The trek is designed to be accessible for individuals with a reasonable level of fitness. While it involves some challenging ascents, the itinerary includes acclimatization days to help participants adjust to the altitude.
Q) What are the best months to visit Patalsu Peak?
A) A perfect time to explore the Patalsu Trek is from April to May. During this period, the weather remains pleasant. Summers are perfect, with a maximum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 10 degrees. Whereas in winter, the best time to complete the trek is from mid-September to the end of October.
Q) What will be the pickup point?
A) You will have to arrive at the Manali bus stand by yourself. Our cab will be waiting there for you and that’s where your journey with B&C starts. Someone from our internal team and many trekkers usually go via Delhi/Chandigarh. So, we can book our bus seats accordingly and travel together.
Q) What to pack?
A) You need to be fully prepared for the comfortable completion of the trek. All the essential kinds of stuff required for the trek such as a Rucksack, 2 pairs of quick-dry T-shirts and trek pants, 2 pairs of socks, trekking shoes, fleece, sunscreen SPF 50+, towel, lip balm, headlamp/torch, water bottles of 1 liter, and personal medicines should be available with you. Q) What will be the accommodation type for this trek?
A) During all the days, you will stay in a 3-man tent/camp on a twin-sharing basis.
Q) Can I get a personal tent?
A) Of course, you can get a separate tent for yourself if you don’t want to share your sleeping space with someone. However, you’ll have to pay an extra charge for that.
Q) What will the temperatures be like during this trek?
A) Patalsu Trek climate stays cool for a large portion of the month. The temperature drops down to 0 degrees in the winter however the summers are very soothing with a temperature scope of 10 degrees to 18 degrees Celsius. The precipitation isn’t a lot of high which makes the air moistness free and able for trekking.
Q) When will there be snow on this trek? Can it be done in Snow?
A) Patalsu Trek stands tall at an elevation of 13,500 feet approximately. There will be snow from January to March. Yes, it can be done in the snow. However, June is one of the best months to do this trek as the temperature stays average, neither too cold nor too hot, and there’s greenery all around.
Q) Who will lead us on the trek?
A) Your trek will be led by one of our experienced and knowledgeable mountain guides, who will be supported by a team of skilled coordinators, helpers, and cooks.
Q) Is a trekking pole necessary?
A) Though it is not necessary, a trekking pole is extremely helpful if you are not used to walking in rugged terrain.
Q) Do I have to buy all the gear required?
A) We can help you get trekking poles, hiking shoes, gloves, warm trousers, raincoats & jackets on rent. Connect with us to know the charge.
Q) Will I be carrying my bags the whole time?
A) You can either carry your bags on your own or hire mules to do the offloading.
Q) What’s the success ratio for the summit attempt?
A) Most of the climbers are able to make it to the top, required you are physically fit and mentally strong.
Q) What kind of fitness level is required?
A) Basic level of fitness is required to complete this trek because after the base camp, it gets a little steep. Thus, you must do basic exercises such as jogging, sit-ups, burpees, etc for 1-2 months before the start of the trek. Moreover, we would suggest increasing your stamina by walking 4-5 kilometers daily for 1-2 months prior to the start of the trek.
Q) Is transportation included? Where will you pick us up and where will you drop us off?
A) Yes, we will pick you up from Manali private bus stand and drop you at the same place.
Q) Is a mobile network available during the trek?
A) There is little to no network connectivity on this trek. Be sure to make all your phone calls before the trek. The last point of all networks is Solang.
Q) What are the toilet facilities during the trek?
A) A separate toilet tent with a portable toilet chair will be available on all days.
Q) What kind of food is available during the trek?
A) A variety of highly nutritious veg & non-veg food is available during the whole journey.
