OVERVIEW
The Indrahar Pass Trek is a popular trekking destination situated in the Dhauladhar range of the Himalayas in Himachal Pradesh, India. It is a high altitude pass that connects the Kangra and Chamba valleys and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountain ranges. The trek is known for its scenic beauty, challenging terrain, and rich cultural heritage of the region.
The trek starts from McLeodganj, a quaint town in Dharamshala, and takes you through a diverse landscape of lush green forests, rocky terrain, and snow-capped peaks. The trail passes through the popular camping ground of Triund, the Laka Got, and the Lahesh Caves. As you trek up toward the Indrahar Pass, you are rewarded with breathtaking views of the Dhauladhar range and the surrounding valleys. The pass stands at an altitude of 4,342 meters (14,245 feet) and offers panoramic views of the Pir Panjal range and the Manimahesh Kailash peak.
The trek takes you through several small villages and hamlets that are inhabited by the Gaddi people, a semi-nomadic tribe that has been living in the region for centuries. You can witness their unique way of life, taste their local cuisine, and interact with them to learn more about their culture and traditions. In addition to that, it is also an equally challenging journey to embark on. The trail through Indrahar Pass features steep ascents and descents, rocky terrain, and narrow paths that can be quite challenging at times. PREPARATION GUIDE
- This is a beginner/moderate level trek. Thus, you don’t need any special training, but a little bit of previous trekking experience
- You shall just be fit, healthy and willing to make effort.
- Training for 2-4 weeks would be enough.
- Walk uphill or stairs steps with a back pack.
- It’s be great if you build a healthy amount of cardiovascular endurance. Jogging is the best exercise to increase your stamina.

THINGS TO PACK
For Your Head:
- Woolen warm cap to protect against cold winds
- Balaclava for extra warmth
- Bandana (can be used as a sweatband or to cover your face from dust)
For Your Feet:
- 2-3 pairs of regular socks
- 1 pair of thick woolen socks for warmth
- Trekking boots with ankle support and good grip
- Extra pair of comfortable sneakers or shoes to wear at the campsite
For Your Hands:
- 1-2 pairs of warm inner gloves
- 1 pair of waterproof gloves to keep your hands dry
- Hand warmers (optional, but useful in very cold weather)
- A pair of fleece gloves for extra insulation
Clothing: The Armor of the Adventurer:

- 2 pairs of lightweight, quick-dry trekking pants
