overview

Discover two distinctive mountain experiences near Manali on the Mangankot + Majhach Lake Trek. This four-day journey combines forest trails, mountain viewpoints and a high-altitude lake, offering a rewarding escape into the quieter landscapes of Himachal Pradesh.

The trek begins with a journey to the Mangankot Base Camp, followed by an excursion towards Majhach Lake. During colder months, the lake and surrounding landscape may be covered in snow, creating a striking winter setting. The itinerary then takes you towards the Mangankot summit or ridge, where favourable weather and visibility can offer expansive views of the surrounding mountains.

Although the trek is short, the uphill sections and changing winter conditions can make it physically demanding. Snow, ice, low temperatures and slippery trails may be encountered depending on the season. Participants should be reasonably fit, comfortable walking on uneven terrain and prepared for changing mountain weather.

Suitable for fit beginners and regular trekkers, this journey is an opportunity to experience the Himalayan outdoors without committing to a long expedition. Previous trekking experience is helpful, while good preparation, suitable clothing and adherence to the trek leader’s instructions remain essential.

Note: Prices mentioned are applicable for Indian passport holders. For foreign passport holders, the cost may vary. Please connect with the Boots & Crampons team for clarity.
Note: An indemnity document will be shared before the trek. Signing it is mandatory.

ITINERARY

Overnight: Mangankot Base Camp

After breakfast, set out for the hike towards Majhach Lake and the nearby waterfall. The trail passes through the natural landscapes surrounding Manali, with forested sections and mountain views along the way.

During winter, snow and freezing conditions may affect the route, and the lake may be frozen depending on temperatures. Follow the trek leader’s instructions and allow time to enjoy the surroundings before returning to Base Camp.

Overnight: Mangankot Base Camp

Begin early for the trek towards Mangankot summit or ridge. The ascent includes uphill sections and may become more demanding where snow, ice or strong winds are present. On reaching the designated high point, enjoy the surrounding mountain views, subject to weather and visibility.

After spending time at the viewpoint, descend carefully and return to Base Camp.
