When we trek for the first time, we tend to have mixed feelings about it. Although we may feel exhausted and our legs may ache, we still have a sense of accomplishment and wear a smile on our faces. As we do it more, we ask ourselves why it took so much time for us to turn to this wonderful thing in life and think how amazing it would have been if we were introduced to this when we were kids. Well, we surely can’t go back in time, but can ensure that our children don’t feel the same.
Although we cannot turn back time, we can ensure that our own children do not miss out on this wonderful activity. Contrary to general perception, trekking is an activity that can be easily done by children. To provide them with an opportunity to experience the joys of trekking, we have come up with a unique and stunning hiking trail in the Mangankot region. This trail offers the excitement of two hikes in one trip, featuring two of the most beautiful spots in Kullu – the Mangankot summit and the Majhach frozen lake.
The Mangankot mountain is a distinctive peak located in the old Manali mountains, visible from the left bank of Manali. The trail follows the Manalsu Nalah, winding through thick forests of pine and deodar. The Majhach frozen lake is situated in the Majhach village of Manali tehsil and is a hidden gem of Manali. As you travel through the village, you can immerse yourself in the divine beauty of nature. In the winter months, the Majhach lake freezes and is covered in snow, providing a breathtaking and tranquil landscape.
Day 1: Arrival & move to Mangankot Base Camp.
Day 2: Acclimatization hike to Majhach Frozen Lake/Waterfall.
Day 3: Trek to Mangankot summit and back to base camp.
Day 4: Return to Manali after breakfast.
