Nestled in the breathtaking landscapes of the Lahaul district of Himachal Pradesh, India, is the majestic Mt. Yunam. Located in the Lahaul-Spiti area, Mt. Yunam is surrounded by snow-capped peaks, glaciers, and mesmerizing landscapes that attract adventurers and trekkers from around the world. The trek to the top of Yunam Peak offers an exciting and challenging experience for mountaineers. Although not as popular as some of the more frequented peaks like Stok Kangri and Kang Yatse 2, Mt. Yunam’s summit provides a fantastic vantage point to view the Chandrabhaga and Mulkilla mountain ranges.
The trek to the top of Mt. Yunam begins from the quaint village of Tangze, which is accessible from Manali through the famous Baralacha La Pass. The trek involves navigating through the rugged terrain, passing through high-altitude alpine meadows, and crossing a few glacial streams before reaching the base camp at an elevation of 5000 meters.
From the base camp, the real adventure begins, as trekkers start their ascent to the summit. The climb to Yunam peak is not technical but required high endurance for its long continuous ascents. Trekkers must have prior high-altitude experience and be physically fit to undertake this climb. The ascent offers incredible views of the surrounding mountain ranges, making the effort worthwhile.

EXCLUSIONS
- Note that offloading of rucksack is NOT permitted in this expedition. You need to carry your own backpack along with all your personal belongings, sleeping bag and carry mattress . This is mandatory for a difficult trek and is aiming to the safety of the trekkers.
- Any tip/gratuity to the HT supports staff.
- Anything which is NOT mentioned in the “Inclusions” or personal in nature.
PREPARATION GUIDE
- Have Previous High altitude Trekking/Mountaineering Experience.
- Weight train the body. Walk uphill or stairs steps with a weighted back pack.
- Strength training for the lower body and core. Do planks, crunches and cycling.
- Climbing Yunam peak requires a fit body and a conscious mind. One needs to be exercising regularly for the past couple of months.
- Any high altitude trek requires you to build a good amount of cardiovascular endurance. Jogging is the best exercise to increase your stamina.
- You need strong legs to success fully finish a high altitude trek. Squats are the best way to build leg strength quickly. Especially your thighs, glutes and knees.

THINGS TO PACK
For Your Head:
- Woolen warm cap to protect against cold winds
- Balaclava for extra warmth
- Bandana (can be used as a sweatband or to cover your face from dust)
For Your Feet:
- 2-3 pairs of regular socks
- 1 pair of thick woolen socks for warmth
- Trekking boots with ankle support and good grip
- Extra pair of comfortable sneakers or shoes to wear at the campsite
For Your Hands:
- 1-2 pairs of warm inner gloves
- 1 pair of waterproof gloves to keep your hands dry
- Hand warmers (optional, but useful in very cold weather)
- A pair of fleece gloves for extra insulation
Clothing: The Armor of the Adventurer:
- 1 pair of thermal innerwear (top and bottom) for base warmth
- 2 pairs of lightweight, quick-dry trekking pants
- 1 pair of windproof and waterproof Gore-Tex trousers
