OVERVIEW
The Kuari Pass trek is a well-known hiking trail situated in the Garhwal Himalayan region of India. Every year, it attracts thousands of trekkers from all over the world who wish to explore the beauty of this Himalayan region. The Kuari Pass was first traversed by Lord Curzon in 1905 and is thus also known as the ‘Lord Curzon Trail.’
The Kuari Pass trek takes you through dense alpine forests that are home to a variety of animals and bird species such as oak and conifer, Rhododendron, and birch. The trail is highly varied and scenic, with numerous highlights along the way. As you trek through the lush forests, you will find yourself walking under a perfect canopy of trees, which offer a cool respite from the sun.
The trek also offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks such as Kamet, Dronagiri, Trishul, Bertholi, Hathi Ghodi Parvat, Mana and Neelkanth, which all stand majestically in the distance. The trail is not too challenging, making it ideal for beginners who want to experience trekking and learn all about it, all while taking in the beauty of the Himalayas.
The Kuari Pass trek culminates at an altitude of 3876 m, and the view from the top is breathtaking. From here, you can see the Nanda Devi Sanctuary and a panoramic view of the surrounding mountain ranges. PREPARATION GUIDE
- This is a beginner level trek. Thus, you don’t need any special training or previous experience
- You shall just be fit, healthy and willing to make effort.
- Training for a week or two would be enough. That too if you don’t indulge in physical exercise at all.
- Walk uphill or stairs steps with a back pack.
- It’s be great if you build a healthy amount of cardiovascular endurance. Jogging is the best exercise to increase your stamina.
