Application Process

To embark on this once-in-a-lifetime adventure, start with an initial registration amount of 10,000 INR, refundable if not selected. Fill out the form by clicking on the above “APPLY NOW” button. The final selection will be made after a thorough scrutiny of applications by the end of June.

NOTE: This trek involves navigating extremely challenging and harsh terrain, therefore, please ensure that you are physically, mentally, and medically fit to undertake this trek before signing up.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Ability to walk with a backpack weighing 10-12 kg over 10 hours/20 km in one day, demonstrating physical endurance.
  • Participation in at least one 5,000-meter expedition in the last 2 years, showcasing high-altitude trekking experience.
  • Age between 16 and 70 years, ensuring suitability for the trek.
  • Basic knowledge and use of heavy snow boots and crampons, essential for glacier navigation.
  • No medical conditions like acute hypertension, asthma, heart surgery, or any major operation in the last year, ensuring fitness for high-altitude conditions.
  • Experience in high-altitude trekking is mandatory, preparing you for the challenges ahead.
  • Must be physically and mentally fit to endure extreme weather conditions, ensuring a safe and enjoyable trek.

ITINERARY

Day 1 – Arrival in Leh (3500m):

– Welcome to Leh, the starting point of our Siachen Glacier Trek.

– Upon arrival, check in at the designated accommodations.

– The day will be dedicated to acclimatization, a crucial process in preparing for the high-altitude adventure.

– Attend an informative briefing session to understand the journey that lies ahead.

– Your equipment and clothing will be meticulously checked to ensure you are well-prepared for the challenging trek.

Day 2 – Leh (3500m):

– Continue the acclimatization process, gradually adapting to the high altitude.

– Engage in training activities that will equip you with essential skills for the upcoming journey.

– Take this opportunity to get acquainted with your fellow team members and build camaraderie.

– Explore the enchanting city of Leh, known for its rich culture and history, offering a glimpse into the unique Ladakhi way of life.

Day 3 – Move from Leh to Base Camp (3810m):

– Depart from Leh and begin your journey towards the Base Camp.

– The day involves a combination of driving to the initial trekking point and then embarking on a trek to reach the Base Camp.

– Continue your acclimatization process and participate in training activities aimed at preparing you for the upcoming challenges.

Days 4-5 – Base Camp (3810m):

– These days are dedicated to further acclimatization, allowing your body to adapt to the high-altitude conditions.

– Receive essential orientation at the Siachen Battle School, where you will learn about the intricacies of the region and the challenges you are likely to encounter.

– This phase is vital in ensuring you are well-prepared for the adventure that awaits.

Day 6 – Trek from Base Camp to Camp-I (3960m):

– Start your trek from the Base Camp to Camp-I, taking your first step into the Siachen Glacier region.

– Experience the rugged beauty of the landscape as you hike towards Camp-I.

– At the end of the day, settle in at Camp-I for a well-deserved rest.

Day 7 – Trek from Camp-I to Camp-II (4179m):

– Continue your journey as you trek from Camp-I to Camp-II.

– As you ascend, the landscape transforms, and you’ll begin to appreciate the unique beauty of the glacier.

– At Camp-II you’ll rest for the night, surrounded by the serene expanse of the Siachen Glacier.

Day 8 – Trek from Camp-II to Camp-III (4420m):

– Today, you push higher into the glacier region, trekking from Camp-II to Camp-III.

– The change in altitude offers new perspectives and awe-inspiring views.

– At Camp-III, you’ll spend the night, surrounded by the majestic Karakoram Range.

Day 9 – Trek from Camp-III to Camp-II (4179m):

– Descend from Camp-III to Camp-II, revisiting terrain you’ve come to know well.

– This transition allows you to consolidate your experiences and knowledge of the area.

– Sundown brings you back to Camp-II, where you’ll rest and rejuvenate.

Day 10 – Trek from Camp-II to Camp-I (3960m):

– Descend further from Camp-II to Camp-I, retracing your steps with a sense of accomplishment.

– At Camp-I, you’ll spend the night, reminiscing about your journey thus far and preparing for the final phase of the trek.

Day 11 – Trek from Camp-I to Base Camp. Move to Leh:

– Complete your descent from Camp-I to the Base Camp, bringing your glacier trek to a close.

– It’s time to prepare for a scenic drive to Leh and savor the accomplishments of your Siachen Glacier trek.

Day 12-13 – Buffer Days:

– These buffer days offer flexibility to accommodate unforeseen circumstances, ensuring the safety and comfort of all trek participants.

– Use this time for additional training, relaxation, or exploring the surroundings, as you see fit.

Day 14 – Departure from Leh:

– Bid a fond farewell to the enchanting landscapes of Leh and the Siachen Glacier.

– Return to Leh for your onward journey, carrying with you a treasure trove of memories and experiences that will stay with you for a lifetime.

  • All land transport for members and support team as per the itinerary.
  • Hotel accommodation in Leh on a full board basis.

EXCLUSIONS

  • Airfare for Delhi-Leh & Leh-Delhi flights, which needs to be arranged separately.
  • Travel insurance and medical coverage, mandatory for all participants.
  • Any costs arising from early departure from the trek due to personal reasons.
  • Personal expenses such as laundry, phone calls, beverages, and tips.
  • Costs arising from unforeseen circumstances like bad weather, landslides, and road conditions beyond our control.
  • Tips for porters and local guides, a token of appreciation for their hard work.
  • Personal shopping expenses and toiletries, ensuring you have all the personal items you need.
  • Costs related to bars and beverages, for any additional refreshments.
  • Emergency evacuation from Leh, if required.
  • Any unanticipated emergencies during the 14-day period, ensuring safety measures are in place.
  • Any expenses not mentioned in the inclusions, to cover any additional personal requirements.

THINGS TO PACK

For Your Head:

  • Woolen warm cap to protect against cold winds
  • Balaclava for extra warmth
  • Bandana (can be used as a sweatband or to cover your face from dust)

For Your Feet:

  • 4-5 pairs of regular socks
  • 1-2 pair of thick woolen socks for warmth
  • Trekking boots with ankle support and good grip
  • Extra pair of comfortable sneakers or shoes to wear at the Tea House

For Your Hands:

  • 1-2 pairs of warm inner gloves
  • 1 pair of waterproof gloves to keep your hands dry
  • Hand warmers (optional, but useful in very cold weather)
  • A pair of fleece gloves for extra insulation

Clothing: The Armor of the Adventurer:

  • 1 pair of thermal innerwear (top and bottom) for base warmth
  • 2 pairs of lightweight, quick-dry trekking pants
  • 1 pair of windproof and waterproof Gore-Tex trousers
  • 1 Gore-Tex or waterproof jacket for wind and rain protection
  • 1 poncho (optional) for sudden rain
  • 1-2 fleece jacket for light warmth
  • 3–4 full-sleeve dry-fit T-shirts for layering
  • 1 heavy down or padded jacket (800-900 Fills) for extreme cold

  • 20-30L Backpack (for water, snacks, fleece, etc.)
  • Duffel bag (provided by us; carried by mules/porters)
  • 1 trekking pole (or 2 for better balance)
  • Filter water bottle (2 bottles of 1 Ltrs)
  • Thermos flask (for warm water or tea)

  • Sunglasses – Polarized, Category 4 with 100% UV protection and a wrap-around fit to guard your eyes from harsh sun glare and snowy reflections. Carry a backup pair just in case.
