EVEREST 2025 IN THE NEWS: A SEASON THAT STOOD APART
Every Everest season leaves its mark, but this year was something else. The stories from 2025 will be ones we carry with us for a long time.
WOMAN POWER: BY DEFAULT
Of the 7 strong climbers who set out to summit the highest peak in the world, 4 were women this female-strong team wasn’t by design, but by default. We love it when that happens. What fills our hearts even more is that each of these incredible women pushed the boundaries of what’s possible just a little bit further.
From Chhonzin Angmo’s extraordinary journey as the first blind woman in the world to summit Everest, to Geeta Samota becoming the first CISF personnel to reach the top of the world, every member of our team was a stalwart in their own right. We feel truly privileged to have walked beside them and become a part of their stories of courage and success.
2025 has been a stellar year overall on Everest with over 500 successful summits and the lowest death count in years. Climbers are pushing all limits, and technology is opening new doors for safety and speed.
UNIMAGINABLE FEATS ON EVEREST THIS YEAR
This year, the use of xenon gas and pre-acclimatization protocols using hypoxic training months in advance meant that some climbers completed their expeditions in as little as 6 days, compared to the traditional 60. It’s astonishing to see how, when there’s nowhere higher to go, humans still find ways to go further. And where better to witness this relentless spirit than Everest?
An Everest climb is like a gathering of the strongest, most resilient people on the planet. Everyone’s working toward the same goal for wildly different reasons. It’s hard for all that energy and strength to not rub off you are bound to come back from there, inspired, stoked and pumped to take on whatever comes your way.
A mere visit to the Khumbu region – it’s humbling. It’s energizing. And it’s always a privilege to be there to soak in that spirit and carry it forward.
RECORDS BROKEN (BY OUR CLIMBERS) THIS SEASON

Her journey wasn’t just about vision, it was about inspiring the world to see beyond limitations. She proved that when determination leads, the path appears.

Geeta Samota

Sreesha’s summit is a powerful moment for southern India a woman who carried her dreams from the coasts to the clouds. As the first Malayali woman to scale Everest, she has etched her name into history, inspiring generations to rise, regardless of where they begin.

Lt. Col Pooja Nautiyal
First Indian Army woman veteran to climb Everest
A retired officer, a mother of two, and now an Everest summiteer Lt. Col Pooja’s story is one of unwavering resilience. At 46, she didn’t just climb a mountain she broke age and gender stereotypes. Her courage sends a message loud and clear: your peak can come at any stage of life.

At Boots & Crampons, we’ve been guiding on Everest for three years now. We’re still young on this mountain but each season has brought something unforgettable. And this year? It’s topped them all.
We feel incredibly lucky to climb alongside individuals who are a force to reckon with driven, gritty, and relentlessly passionate. Their fire fuels ours, and their trust keeps us coming back stronger. This year, they’ve raised the bar and made it that much more thrilling to return next season.
We wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Bharath Thammineni
With his successful ascent of Dhaulagiri (8,167M) this spring season, Bharath became the second Indian to scale eight of the fourteen 8000M mountains in the world

Romil Barthwal
As our Everest climbers started their summit push for the roof of the world, Romil took off in the still of the night in a different direction towards the peak of Lhotse (8,516M) alone. In a few hours’ time, we heard news from two separate mountain tops Everest and Lhotse. Dual success. Romil had walked all the way to the top of the fourth highest mountain in the world all by himself. A week later, we are still recovering from this one!
